Story of our lives: We’re seriously craving an everything bagel, but the only kind left is plain. Or worse, whole wheat. Luckily, our friends at Ginger Rose and Spend with Pennies have a brilliant solution to this horrifying dilemma. Introducing “everything bagel” butter. Whip up a batch in five minutes, then stash it in the fridge for breakfast emergencies.
What you need: 1/2 cup softened butter, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried onion flakes, garlic flakes and plastic wrap.
What you do: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the softened butter and a sprinkle (about 1 teaspoon each) of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried onion flakes and garlic flakes. Stir until combined, then place the mixture on a piece of plastic wrap. Roll the butter into a log, then put it in the fridge for two hours. Cut off a slice whenever you want to jazz up a toasted bagel. (Aka always.)
