It’s Friday night and you need a classy, not-too-expensive, dimly lit spot to meet your date. No problem: Just head to one of these six spots, where posh vibes, inventive libations and tasty bar bites reign supreme. So even if the evening isn’t a total success, at least you scored a killer cucumber mule and a charcuterie board.

Your uncle’s fancy study or Miami’s newest bar? This swanky cocktail den inside the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove slings prosecco rosé, cucumber mules, and classic meat and cheese boards. Forget the date—we’re totally cool sitting solo with a spicy raspberry collins in one hand and ahi tuna tacos in the other.

On the 40th floor of the East Miami hotel at Brickell City Centre, you’ll find a lush rooftop garden bar stocked with all the good stuff. Think braised beef buns and lychee blossom cocktails. Plus, the view is to die for.

We’re not sure what we love more about this place: the nostalgic vibes or the fact that there’s a cocktail called Life Before Stereo (tequila, lime juice, pineapple and a spicy salt rim). You’ll also find one of the best bar bites menus around—think buttermilk-brined crispy chicken sandwiches; pretzel burgers with beer cheese and caramelized onions; and fried banana splits with guava and cream cheese ice cream. If conversation stalls, just let the food do the talking.

Matador Bar

A Miami Beach date-night favorite, this intimate bar offers a romantic, low-key energy that feels like South Beach… just at lower decibels. Depending on how drinks go, make it an evening and stay for dinner at chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s iconic Matador Room.

Sweet Liberty

Lucky for us, this just-off-the-beaten-path spot in Miami Beach is mostly tourist-free. That means cocktails are affordable and service is always top-notch. Plus, this spot was recently ranked one of the World’s 50 Best Bars. Not too shabby.

Finding a bar that’s equal parts fun and homey is far from an everyday occurrence. That’s why we’ve been obsessed with Rácket ever since it opened earlier this year. Add in the ample seating (cozy couches, outdoor lounge chairs) and a mean truffle flatbread that pairs nicely with the Jury’s Out cocktail (mescal, banana liqueur, amaro and lemon) and we could see ourselves coming here 365 days a year (which is exactly how many days it’s open).
