The 5 Best Dishes at Chicago’s Latinicity
Let’s spice things up, shall we?
You may have heard the buzz about the Spanish/Latin American/Portuguese-themed food hall Latinicity. The sprawling space has 12 separate food counters, each with its own specialty, and one tapas restaurant. So in the name of research, we ate our way through the place. Here are the five best dishes at Latinicity.
The Cubano Sandwich at Tortas & Cocas
Hit the Tortas & Cocas counter for the first must-sink-your-teeth-into item: the Cubano. The sandwich has pit ham, carnitas, pickles, Swiss cheese and habanero mustard served on flatbread.
The Chori-Frita at Burgesa
Ready to move on to the burger counter? At Burgesa, try the Chori-Frita Burger. Not only is it fun to say; it’s kind of mind-blowing to chow down on. A chorizo-and-Black Angus patty is topped with Manchego cheese and crispy potatoes and served on a brioche bun.
The Mexico Dog at Burgesa
And wouldn’t you know it? Hot dogs keep company with the burgers. Try the Mexico Dog, which is wrapped in bacon--and there’s more: It’s smothered in smoked chili mayo and black-bean puree, then topped with coleslaw.
The Custom Salads at Ensaladas
Ready for some lighter fare? The Ensaladas station lets you make your own salad using ingredients like roasted corn, citrus-roasted olives and garlic shrimp. Or go for a premade option, like the Chipotle Barbecue Chicken salad topped with avocado-ranch.
The Breakfast Burrito at Loncheria
And you’ll be back the next morning, right? Start the day with the breakfast burrito at Loncheria, Latinicity’s fast-casual restaurant. The morning meal, served until 11 a.m., has scrambled eggs with cheese, refried beans, salsa and Mexican sour cream.
