Nitro Coffee Arrives in Chicago
Bubbles and extra caffeine in a killer cup of joe
Coffee lover by morning? Draft beer fan by night?
Your two worlds are about to collide in a cup at Beatrix in River North, where they’ve just started selling Intelligentsia Black Cat Nitro Coffee.
This special cold brew is made by infusing nitrogen into coffee and serving it from a keg, which makes for a creamy, carbonated drink. (Imagine sipping a Guinness and you’ll get the idea.)
Here’s the best part: Beatrix’s Nitro uses espresso beans that have triple the caffeine of drip coffee--and it’s served freezing cold right from the tap, so there’s no ice to water it down.
We ordered a Nitro to go--it comes in a traditional iced-coffee cup with a lid ($4.25 for 12 ounces)--and we were on our way, sipping bubbles as we strolled to work.
Our morning suddenly felt like a celebration.
