Ice Cream Worth Finding Parking
Grass-grazed milk + crazy-good ingredients = Jeni’s Splendid ice cream
Despite our city’s obsession with fitness, it’s safe to say that Los Angeles is also the center of the ice cream universe.
There are the techno-serves, the superfood blends, even the vegan varieties. And now we have a new temple of indulgence opening in Los Feliz that we like to think of as an offering from happy cows: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
Jeni’s Splendid is an Ohio-based company that makes both simple (dark chocolate) and foo-foo flavors (toasted brioche with butter and apricot jam) with milk from small, family-owned farms where cows graze on grass all day.
Until now, Angelenos had to buy pints (for $12) at upscale grocers like Gelson’s and Whole Foods. But beginning next week, you can stroll right into the shop and get single scoops (from $5), sundaes (from $7) and more made to order. Now we can stop stockpiling pints of the goat cheese with red cherries in the freezer (or not)!
