You bought a basil plant so you could have fresh basil on demand, but now you have more leaves than you know what to do with--and the plant looks like it’s about to go bad. Try this trick and make your own dried herbs.
What you need: Fresh basil, paper towels and a microwave
What you do: Wash and dry the basil leaves before removing their stems, then lay them out in a single layer (no overlap) on a paper towel. Next, zap them in the microwave for 20 seconds, until they feel dry and brittle. Crumble them up and store in an airtight container. You’re done!
Whoa, genius. And it tastes way better than anything store-bought.
