No two days for a New Yorker are ever the same. Some nights you need to leave the office, zen out and do some yoga in the park. Others require whiskey.
But being a New Yorker also means you’re working like a maniac and rarely able to make it to happy hour before happy hour, well, ends.
Enter Happy, a new app that lets you drink for cheap at any time you like.
Here’s the deal: You leave work at your normal hour, even as late as 8 or 9 p.m. Fire up the map-based app and find a bar (and specials) you like. (For instance: It might tell you Bait & Hook off Union Square will sling $5 wine and beer, $6 well drinks and $1 oysters.) Once you’ve made it there, open up the app again and hit the big red “Start Happy Time” button. A 60-minute timer will begin. Show your phone to the bartender and your drinks are cheap for the next hour.
Right now, there are about 100 participating places in and around the East Village, the Lower East Side, Williamsburg and Fort Greene. But neighborhood expansions are on the way soon.
Because the days you need a whiskey are actually the days you need three of them.
