Looking for a new way to cheer up? A just-opened sweets shop in Lincoln Park should do the trick.
At Sugar Fixé Macaron, which recently took over a light-flooded corner storefront on Armitage Avenue, you can find 16 different flavors of the dainty cookies for sale daily.
The woman behind Sugar Fixé is Oak Park’s Cindy Summers, who ditched the corporate world to enroll in Chicago’s French Pastry School. She now spends her days making macarons so pretty, they practically begged to be Instagrammed.
The Sugar Fixé menu includes a dozen “usual” flavors like strawberry, Nutella and salted caramel, plus four special flavors each month (recently: cupcake, snickerdoodle, lavender). All have the cookie’s signature crisp outer shell and thin layer of creamy filling.
Our favorite way to eat them? Right there in the store, bathed in sunlight and with a cup of good coffee.
But we also took a colorful five-pack to a friend on her birthday and found they made her smile quicker than a bouquet of flowers.
