Wait, did you forget to give yourself a Valentine’s Day treat? Because you’re supposed to, you know--and it’s not too late.
Our own love-thyself moment came when we laid eyes on the new Lolli & Pops candy shop at the Chicago French Market.
The small, San Fran-based gourmet chocolate chain recently staked its claim on a prime piece of real estate at the downtown market. Now office workers on their lunch hour confront its rows of gorgeous truffles and exotic Japanese sodas in a wide corner display just inside the market’s main entrance.
There are flavors for chocoholics both adventurous and nostalgic: We fell for the creamy, bubblegum-pink center of our strawberry-cheesecake confection just as hard as we did for the sweet/salty contrast of a classic chocolate filled with soft caramel and dusted with sea salt.
The icing on the cake? The sturdy, pink-and-gold boxes the chocolates are nestled in are so pretty, they’re, well, eye candy.
