It’s 5:45 on the night of your annual ornament-exchange soiree, and as luck would have it, your usually unlucky-in-love girlfriends have all decided to bring a plus-one.
Enter Minibar, the new booze-delivery service that makes 10 additional guests no big deal.
Download the free app (iOS or Android), enter your delivery address and payment information, and then select whatever you need to satisfy these extra revelers. Currently, Minibar offers a good variety of liquors (they even have St.-Germain elderflower liqueur), domestic and craft beers, and a respectable selection of red, white and sparkling wines.
Within the hour, a neighborhood liquor store will fulfill the order and deliver the goodies to your home or office in discreet bags.
The prices are comparable to what you’d pay if you popped by the store on your own, though you’re expected to tip a standard 10 percent.
Don’t know how much to order? Try using Minibar’s Party Planner tool, which helps you calculate your needs based on the number of guests and type of party. (It told us that our three-hour cocktail party with 52 people required 30 bottles of wine, three bottles of liquor and three dozen beers.)
As of now, Minibar’s delivery area is somewhat limited--great for Uptown, Downtown and Park Cities--but they promise more coverage and more variety soon.
Yes, cheers to you, technology.
