Tracee Ellis Ross Wins Instagram in Vintage Chanel Cape Covered in Thousands of White Feathers

Not all heroes wear capes, but Tracee Ellis Ross sure does.

The Black-ish actress would make Cruella de Vil jealous with the maximalist black-and-white outfit she debuted on Instagram. In her caption, Ross said, "Some Friday feathers. Vintage @chanelofficial cape courtesy of @alastairmckimm."

Ross modeled the vintage design thanks to Alastair Mckimm, the Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director at i-D. The tweed cape made its first appearance at the Chanel Pre-Fall Métiers d'Art Runway Show back in 2014. The outwear features thousands of white feathers layered over a black base decorated with sequins and faux pearls. According to luxury consignment seller TheRealReal, its original retail price started at $24,050.

The 48-year-old actress showed off the cape in a series of selfies, as well as in a video clip, where she jokingly says to the camera, "What? Oh, I'm sorry. Did you wanna? Did you wanna go for dinner? Haha. I did too. Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'm just—I'm not going to be able to join you."

After Ross spun in her feathery cape, commenters showed their love for the outfit. Marc Jacobs called it "Fabulous." Others noticed the star's striking similarity to her mother, Diana Ross. One person said, "Ms. Diana, is that you???" Another joked, "Diana Ross looks so good at 47."

This only proves that we need to go out and get a statement cape.
