If April showers bring May flowers, then February shows bring March clothes...and all the new spring trends that come with them. This year’s NYFW runways had us “falling” for autumn/winter 2020 (had to), but it’s the street-style looks spotted outside the events that have us craving our first dose of warmer weather. 1. Colorful Trenches
No need to say sayonara to your winter puffer just yet. But once temps do warm up, lighter spring outerwear will be getting a much-needed update in the form of bright hues and colorways. Whether it’s a bright plaid topper or a belted pastel coat, the classic trench is no longer limited to snoozy beiges and boring neutrals.

2. Clutter Couture
Tiny handbags, allover neutrals, understated jewelry...fashion minimalism is getting shoved to the back burner this spring to make way for loud prints, structural accessories and “clutter couture.” Yep, no need to feel ashamed of what’s lurking in the bottom of your handbag, because you’re definitely not alone. On average, women carry 67 items in their handbag, which is why Christian Siriano and Ziploc brand partnered to create the hot-pink “clutter couture” bag above. One way to keep your bag clutter in check: the new reusable Ziploc brand Accessory Bags, found in the cosmetics and beauty aisle at Walmart.

3. Suiting Separates
Stuffy pantsuits may be the city’s bread and butter, but the fashion forward put their own spin on business casual with loose-fitting matching sets in monochrome colorways. Think super wide-leg trousers and a matching charcoal button-down; an oversized blazer and swingy culottes in pastel pink; or Bermuda shorts and a tailored topper in allover white.

4. V-waist Pants
High-waisted pants are nothing new, but the fit got a more flattering upgrade in the form of a dip-down waistline that creates a slimming optical illusion. The effect: a cinched-in hourglass shape right at your middle.

5. Tangerine
An orange wave descended on NYC this month. From deep, rich rust to bright yellow-tinged apricot, the springy color was spotted in nearly every iteration on the streets of fashion week. Our advice to those wary of going full Austin Powers: Work the color in more subtly in the form of accessories like bags and belts.

6. Acid-wash Denim
From jackets and pants to tops and skirts, the dappled blues are back big-time for spring. Go less grungy and more modern by opting for straight-leg silhouettes that hit right at the ankle.

7. Cow Prints
Meghan Markle gave the official nod to cow prints back in January 2019 when she donned her Gianvito Rossi PVC-and-calf-hair pumps during a visit to her patronage Smart Works, but we’re now starting to see the trend go more mainstream. Jackets, skirts and, yes, even clogs got the mookeover. (OK, we’ll just see ourselves out now…)
