Spring and Summer Clothes You Can (and Should) Buy Now
Let’s go sale-ing
It’s still very much winter outside, but our minds are already starting to wander to days filled with cherry blossoms and sidewalk cafés. Sigh. While there’s nothing you can do to speed up the arrival of above-70 weather, you can get a head start on prepping your wardrobe. Here are five things to nab now. (Bonus: Most of them are on sale.)
A Transitional Coat
You might be sick of outerwear by now (OK, you definitely are), but it’s actually a great time to scoop up a new topper as stores clear out their winter inventory. A wool cocoon coat will get you through those awkward too-warm-for-a-puffer, too-cold-for-a-leather-jacket March days. (And if your down parka is looking a little worn, now’s the time to replace it for next winter.)
Right now you may not remember what your feet look like without thick socks on, but the days when you can actually justify getting a pedicure aren’t that far off. Be ready for open-toe season with a new pair of ’70s-inspired mules.
Sure, you could wait until you have a few beach days (or a tropical vacay) on your calendar to pick up a new one-piece, but there are tons of new styles to shop now, in part thanks to resort season (and the fact that it’s summer for swimwear experts Australia and Brazil).
We tend to think of sunnies less as a warm-weather accessory and more as a year-round part of our uniform. Psst: Last year’s cat-eye and modern aviator frames aren’t going anywhere.
Whether you react to Valentine’s Day with glee or eye rolls, one side effect of the holiday is an influx of lingerie sales. But there’s no rule against using them to stock up on bras and undies for yourself, right?
