Over the weekend, Meghan Markle was spotted rocking her favorite sustainable shoe brand, Rothy’s, while hopping off a plane in her new home of Canada.
This go-around, the 38-year-old Duchess of Sussex opted for the Rothy’s Merino point in shadow. (They’re just like her go-to pointed flats from the brand, but these $175 shoes are made from merino wool and recycled plastic water bottles because Canada is cold.) But now that Rothy’s latest new design, the Mary Jane, just dropped, we have a feeling we’re going to see her rocking them any day.
Like Markle’s beloved Point and Merino Point styles, the Mary Jane encapsulates the brand’s commitment to function, the environment and fashion all at once. These aren’t the same Mary Janes you wore as a kid. The Rothy’s iteration, which comes in leopard print (they call it wildcat), pink (rosebud), sapphire, cinnamon and black, features a similar shape as the traditional Point and a feminine tie closure that securely hugs your feet instead of the standard Mary Jane buckle strap.
The vamp is rounded, the outsoles are crafted from vegan leather and you can pop the shoes and insoles into the wash if they need a good cleaning. Like other Rothy’s, there’s no break-in period (these babies are seriously comfortable right out the gate) and they stretch to gently mold to your foot. Thanks to the tie closure and anti-slip heel, they’re made for ladies on the go and won’t slip off your feet when you’re, say, running to catch up with a toddler or power walking to a meeting.
