Paris might just be my favorite of the Fashion Weeks, not just because of the incredible designers who show their new collections during the final days of Fashion Month, but because of the incredibly chic street style. And this spring was no exception. I saw droves of editors and influencers wearing the season’s top trends with aplomb, providing tons of outfit inspiration to get me through until Labor Day. But there were also a few micro trends—styles that kept popping up but that weren’t yet everywhere—that caught my eye. Here, five of the best Parisian micro trends I plan to try out now, before the masses catch on.

6 Micro Trends We Spotted During London Fashion Week (from Faux Fur to Colorful Suits)

1. Tweed Jackets with Jeans

Perhaps the most French of all the trends on this list, this pair combines classic tailoring with casual basics to form a perfect high-low ensemble. Tweed jackets run the risk of feeling too prim or old school when worn with other preppy staples, like matching skirts or creased trousers (very Emily Gilmore and the ladies of the DAR). But a pair of jeans, khakis or even cargo pants helps make such a buttoned-up piece feel suddenly very cool. Keep those low-key vibes going with an easy hair ‘do and other basic or casual accessories.

2. Baseball Caps

Bucket hats and berets have both enjoyed trend status in the past few years, but for 2023 I have a sneaking suspicion that baseball caps will become more than just a post-workout wardrobe staple. There were numerous show attendees wearing the classic headgear with a variety of clothing styles. But my favorite looks were those that paired a cap with simple tailoring, like button-down shirts, trench coats and wide-leg trousers. To get in on the trend, try incorporating your favorite baseball hat into looks that have more of a polished finished and less of an athleisure vibe.

3. Double Denim

The London Fashion Week micro trend popped up again in Paris, further amplifying my hunch that doubling up on denim is the way to go the spring. Most folks opted for a simple jacket or coordinating denim shirt over jeans, but there were also denim corsets, maxi skirts, A-line skirts and trench coats. So feel free to pick and choose whichever styles you find most fun, and don’t fret too much over trying to get the washes to match exactly.

4. Non-Moto Leather Jackets

New York had leather bomber jackets, Milan has leather trenches and now Paris has expanded the options to include just about any leather (or faux leather) outerwear you can think of—except for classic moto styles. Branch out from the expected silhouette and instead embrace wrap coats, blazers and cropped jackets. The good thing is you can style them in all the same ways you would your old standby motorcycle jacket, so there’s no need to totally reinvent the wheel your outfit rotation.

5. Neckerchiefs

I love the summer camp vibes of this incredibly easy styling trick, and was pleasantly surprised by how elevated these street style stars made it look. The key is to pick a scarf with more of a luxe vibe (think silk or satin over a cotton bandana) and to ensure it works well with the neckline of both your top and your jacket. When in doubt, try knotting one over a blouse that’s unbuttoned to really show off your scarf, or over a plain crewneck tee.
