Bathing suits are right up there among the most frustrating items to shop for (alongside jeans and bras). There’s just so much to consider for something that symbolizes carefree days by the beach or pool. For women who have both a long torso and the specific desire to wear a one-piece, you’ve got yourself quite a tall order, no pun intended.

“My whole life, I hated wearing a one-piece,” says PureWow senior editor Dana Dickey. “I couldn't figure out why the bottoms of everyone else's suits weren't hiking up their behinds, like mine was. Or why these women didn't display the dreaded crotch cut (that's where your one-piece pulls upward so hard as you walk, it cuts off circulation down there).” The answer? The brands she was shopping weren’t catering to her longer torso.

All too often we find the straps digging into our shoulders, the seat riding up to give everyone a view, boob cups floating somewhere around our ribs—and don’t even get us started on the crotch situation (helloooo, camel toe!).

But just as brands are waking up to the need to adopt sustainable practices, they’re also working on extending their size ranges to fit larger and longer bodies. Because, no, simply adding adjustable straps does not instantly transform a suit into one that’s long-torso-friendly. If you’re in need of a cute one-piece bathing suit for your longer middle, here are 15 brands with options that are designed and cut to specifically flatter you, like the best-selling Baywatch-inspired scoopneck and the sexy Andie one-piece one PureWow editor deemed an absolute must-have. Hallelujah!

The Best One-Piece Swimsuits for Long Torsos at a Glance

How We Chose the Best One-Piece Swimsuits for Long Torsos

In much the same way that designing clothing for plus sizes or larger chests isn’t as simple as just adding a few inches here and there, there are very specific fit concerns to consider when creating a swimsuit for someone with a longer torso. Each of the brands below offers suits that were designed from the very start to hit your bust, shoulders, hips and waist in exactly the rights spot so you don’t feel like you need to tug or pull your bathing suit in order for it to lay correctly. (On the flip side, these suits also won’t feel baggy or loose.) Of course, we also read through tons of reviews and asked friends, family and PureWow editors for their input as well, to confirm these brands don’t just talk the talk. So, whether you’re in the market for a full-coverage one-piece with tummy control and ample bust support or prefer a trendy, cut-out design that leaves little to the imagination—these suits are proof that you can have your cake and eat it too.

How to Tell If You Have a Long Torso

In her quest to finally find a one-piece swimsuit that fit correctly, Dickey also discovered a handy (pun intended) little trick to help shoppers determine whether their torsos are indeed considered longer than average. All you need to do is place one flattened palm underneath your bust line, then your other hand just under it. “If the edge of your lower hand is at your belly button, that’s an indication of average proportions,” says Dickey. “If your belly button is an inch or two below your lower palm—ding ding ding!—you probably have a long torso.”

PureWow Reader Favorite Swimsuits

1. J.Crew

  • Size Range: 0 to 16
  • Price Range: $100 to $128
  • Pros: wider size range, uses some sustainable materials
  • Cons: not every one-piece comes in long torso sizes

J.Crew has long been a favorite for picking up classic, long-lasting suits in gorgeous hues that are actually affordable. Luckily, the brand has expanded its offerings in the past year and now has multiple styles in numerous colors made specifically for long torsos (with the promise of more to come later in the spring). Our favorites are still the OG classics—a ruched bandeau with a removable halter strap and a plunge-front maillot with wide shoulder straps—all of which take into account your longer torso with a longer silhouette, longer straps and bust cups that are placed exactly right.

2. Andie Swim

  • Size Range: XS to XXXL
  • Price Range: $98 to $128
  • Pros: all one-piece styles are available in long torso sizes
  • Cons: limited color options

We love Andie for its wide range of long-lasting suits in a host of fun and flattering colors. So we were super excited a few years back when the brand announced it was branching into long lengths as a trial with its trendy one-shoulder “Nantucket” style and the sexy cross-back “Tulum.” That test run was such a success, Andie now makes all 16 of its one-piece suits in long torso versions (and sizes XS to XXXL, roughly 2 to 24). The color options are still limited, but there are a ton of gorgeous solid hues to choose from that will never go out of style. And according to one PureWow editor, these suits definitely live up to the hype.

3. Summersalt

  • Size Range: 2 to 24
  • Price Range: $95 to $125
  • Pros: uses sustainable and eco-friendly materials, wider size range
  • Cons: tends to sell out quickly

This sustainable brand is one of our go-tos for flattering one-pieces that smooth your silhouette without constricting your movement. But even better is the fact that all of the brand’s one-piece suits now come in tall sizes. Summersalt is best known for its bright solids and colorblocked stunners, but it has been branching into more and more patterns, so if dainty florals are your thing, there are lots of cute designs to choose from. And of course, as inclusivity is a big part of Summersalt’s brand identity, all the suits come in the full size range, 2 to 24.

4. Aerie

  • Size Range: XS to XXL
  • Price Range: $45 to $65
  • Pros: affordable price point, all one-piece styles are available in long torsos sizes
  • Cons: tends to sell out quickly

Good news: Every single one of Aerie’s one-piece designs and colors options are available in tall lengths so you won’t feel limited in your choices. And we love that the brand has taken a stand against the unrealistic imagery so often used to sell swimwear. For a few years now it has refused to photoshop model’s bodies and shoots its swimsuits on a wide range of body types and skin tones. There are a bunch of trendy, bright solid-colored options, but our favorites are definitely the patterned pieces with flirty florals that don’t feel too juvenile and multiple leopard variations to fit your personal style.

5. Athleta

  • Size Range: S to XL
  • Price Range: $98 to $129
  • Pros: great for swim workouts or active days
  • Cons: limited styles available

If water sports and athletic days at the beach are more your style, Athleta’s got you covered. The brand offers six one-pieces in tall sizes, all of which will look sleek and stay in place for laps in the pool or a game of volleyball with the kids. And unlike classic swim-sport brands, Athleta’s chic designs, use of subtle ruching and bold colors aren’t obviously sport suits, so you’ll feel just as comfortable wearing them to lounge by the water, cocktail in hand.

6. Left On Friday

  • Size Range: XS to XXL
  • Price Range: All the brand’s long-torso one-piece suits are $170
  • Pros: tons of color options, all one-piece styles are available in long-torso sizes
  • Cons: high price point

This young brand is all about combining premium quality swimwear with an active lifestyle, because nothing should stop you from playing a round of beach volleyball or teaching your kids how to swim—all while dressed in a chic, classic maillot. All five of Left On Friday’s one-piece styles come in tall lengths, although not in every color. Our two top picks? A subtly sexy spaghetti strap one-piece called the “Sunday Suit,” which has a supremely classic French Rivera vibe, and the “Double Scoop,” which has thicker straps and an under-bust strap at the back for added support.

7. ASOS

  • Size Range: 0 to 16
  • Price Range: $29 to $67
  • Pros: lots of trendy silhouettes, affordable price point
  • Cons: tends to sell out quickly

ASOS is one of the most size-inclusive (and affordable) retailers out there, with dedicated designs for ladies who are petite, plus-size, pregnant and—you guessed it—tall. While the ASOS Tall collection is designed for women 5’10” and above, shorter gals with lengthy middles can wear these styles just the same. The fashion-forward retailer has lots of sexy low-cut silhouettes, trendy prints and bright hues for you to choose from, and also carries long-torso styles from brands like Topshop and Free Society.

8. Lands’ End

  • Size Range: XS to XL, and 16W to 26W
  • Price Range: $50 to $155
  • Pros: inclusive size range, affordable price point
  • Cons: not every one-piece style is available in long torso sizes

Lands’ End may not be the first place you think of for cute swimwear, but it actually has a number of fun prints available in classic minimalist silhouettes. There are also lots of styles that offer extra coverage, like rash guards and board shorts and skorts, ideal if you have a day of surfing, tubing or other water activities planned. It’s also one of the only brands we know that makes one-pieces that come in tall plus sizes (16W through 26W).

Best for Active Beach Days

9. L.L.Bean

  • Size Range: 8 to 18
  • Price Range: $70 to $199
  • Pros: affordable price point, great for full coverage that doesn’t look dowdy
  • Cons: not every one-piece style is available in long torso sizes

Another surprise hit, L.L.Bean has numerous one-piece suits (and a few tankinis too) available in long sizing. While most of the suits are pretty classic in style—faux-wrap halters, ruched square-neck suits and a simple spaghetti strap—there are some colorful prints as well, for those who prefer to stand out on vacation. And because these suits were designed for an active beach or pool day, you don’t have to worry about anything falling out or riding up, nor are any of the suits too revealing or sexy. So you can go ahead and confidently join in that beach volleyball sesh.

10. Long Tall Sally

  • Size Range: 4 to 24
  • Price Range: $50 to $75
  • Pros: affordable price point
  • Cons: limited style options

It should come as no surprise that a brand entirely dedicated to creating clothing for women 5’8” and taller would include one-piece swimsuits in its lineup. Because the fit experts at Long Tall Sally are super familiar with longer torsos, you know the technical construction and the placement of the adorable patterns will be just right. There are also a few tankini options, if that’s more your style, that will actually cover your middle as intended.

Best for Swim Workouts

11. Swim Outlet

  • Size Range: Varies by brand
  • Price Range: $60 to $145
  • Pros: great for swim workouts or active days
  • Cons: fewer trend-forward options

If you’re looking for a one-piece for working out or racing, Swim Outlet carries brands like Speedo and EQ that offer long-torso friendly styles. It also has a few long plus-size suits, which are definitely a rarity, in sizes 16W through 24W. There are definitely some trendier patterns (like this floral square-neck design or this retro-inspired, black-and-white one-shoulder suit), but most of the options are sleek, neutral-hued designs that will look as chic in 2023 as they will in 2026, and beyond. (P.S. You save up to 20 percent on swimwear if you sign up to be a member for just $5/year.)

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Still haven’t found exactly what you’re looking for? There are a handful of brands that offer just one or two styles in long torso lengths that might just be that Goldilocks fit you’ve been hunting for.

Best Shaping Swimsuits

13. Miraclesuit

  • Size Range: 8L to 18L
  • Pros: is both comfortable and smoothing
  • Cons: limited styles available

This figure-flattering brand currently has two long torso-friendly swimsuits available online—the Sanibel, the sweetheart-neckline style above ($184) and the Avanti, a classic strapless bandeau ($178). The Sanibel has a low-cut back with adjustable straps to give you even more control over the fit. Plus, it is made with the brand’s signature sculpting and shaping technology, combined with underwire cups, to give you a va-va-voom figure without feeling like you’re squeezing into shapewear. The sizing does run a bit snug, so if you’re between sizes you may be more comfortable in the larger.

Best New Brand

14. Berlook

  • Size Range: XS to L
  • Pros: fun, trendy colors and fabrics
  • Cons: limited styles available

The name of this up-and-coming swim brand is actually an acronym and stands for Biobased materials, Eco-friendly production, Recycled plastics and LOOK your very best, aka the four main tenets of the brand. And indeed, the site has a ton of information on Berlook’s sustainability efforts so you can feel more confident that your new one-piece is as eco-friendly as they claim. Right now the brand has just one bathing suit available in long torso sizes, but the classic scoop-neck cut combined with the trendy lurex material is sure to be a winner. It’s designed for a high-cut leg and cheeky back, giving it a subtly sexy vibe as well.

Best Under $100 Swimsuit

15. Anne Cole

  • Size Range: 6 to 16
  • Pros: incredibly classic, timeless silhouette
  • Cons: only one long torso style offered

You can’t go wrong with a timeless strappy one-piece, like this maillot by Anne Cole. It comes in navy, black and white and is currently the only long torso swimsuit available from the brand. That said, it has a 4.9-star rating with reviewers saying it runs true to size, lasts well (even after multiple seasons of use) and looks wonderfully elegant and flattering when on. Pamela N. writes, “Classic elegance. I owned this suit years ago and decided to purchase again when I couldn't find anything I loved. Googled Anne Cole and found that they still carry this suit. Love the adjustable straps and long torso sizing.” Indeed, the straps are adjustable in back to ensure the neckline lays exactly where you want it.
