Madewell

Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly love Madewell more, the brand introduced its Make Weekends Longer (MWL) loungewear line. Now my WFH wardrobe is almost entirely made up of the collection’s comfy sweats. So when I heard Madewell was launching its first-ever leggings as the newest addition to the MWL line, I was determined to get my hands on a pair ASAP.

As luck would have it, I was able to test out a pair of the recycled nylon and spandex blend pants ahead of their official launch today. And let me tell you, they’re just as amazing as I expected.

What makes them so great, you ask? First of all, the retailer designed these leggings based on fit insights from its mega popular denim collection—so they’re super comfortable and flattering just like my favorite pair of Madewell jeans. They also feature flexible four-way stretch, opaque material that makes possible wardrobe malfunctions a non-issue.

The first time I slipped them on, I was immediately impressed by how smooth and buttery soft the fabric felt. And when I checked out the fit in the mirror, my thighs and butt looked noticeably sculpted and lifted. So I decided to put them to the test by wearing them for a full day of working from home to see if they stretched out or started to sag at all. But come 5pm, they were just as compressive and figure-hugging as they’d been in the morning.

Madewell says its MWL leggings are perfect for everything from workouts to lounging, so for my next test I set out to see how they held up during a virtual yoga class. I had no issues stretching my legs into any of the poses, and I felt confident knowing my underwear wasn’t showing through thanks to the squat-proof material. However, I did discover one flaw: The waistband kept rolling down every time I bent over. To be fair, this happens to me with a lot of leggings but still, it was annoying.

To prevent any waistband issues, I’d recommend sizing down if you’re between sizes. I think if my waistband fit a bit snugger I might find the MWL leggings more comfortable to work out in. But for now, I’m content keeping them as loungewear leggings. In fact, I’m contemplating ordering two more pairs in the other colorways so that I can start alternating between them and joggers. Yeah, they’re that comfy.
