The 50-year-old actress stepped out in a custom black-and-aqua gown by Vera Wang, including a taupe bustier draped in teal fabric and a black satin skirt. The number also featured satin black fingerless gloves that reached above Cox’s elbows, and Cox accessorized the look with sparkly statement earrings by Hanut Singh. Of course, we couldn't help but notice the similarities between the star and Princess Jasmine from Aladdin.
Laverne Cox Channels Princess Jasmine on the Oscars Red Carpet
The actress and activist gives us the same vibes as Disney princess, with the exception of her gorgeous hairstyle, pulled back into a low, intricate bun (courtesy of Kiyah Wright).
Cox gave her Instagram followers an even closer look at the stunning ensemble by posting a video of herself, with Beyoncé's "I'm That Girl" playing in the background. The Orange Is the New Black alum also gave a shoutout to her stylist, Christina Joy Pacelli, as well as her makeup artist, Deja Smith, in the caption.
In the comments, one fan wrote, "So stunningly beautiful." Another said, "Absolutely SLAYING as always."
In addition to gracing the red carpet with her show-stopping outfit, Cox is also serving as host for E!'s live red carpet broadcast. And as always, she's bringing all the energy.
While speaking with the New York Times in 2022 about how she approaches red carpet interviews, she said, "I’m trying to have a meaningful connection, and, whatever they want to say about their work or about the world, giving them that space and platform to do it while connecting as authentically as possible."
She continued, "When I’ve been on the other side, when I feel a chemistry and connection with the person who’s interviewing me, I feel like the interview goes so much better."
Keep slaying, Laverne. You're crushing it!
