Let’s rewind for a second. Karlee is in kindergarten sporting her brand new maroon velvet mock neck tee. She sits down for lunch at the cafeteria, opens her chocolate milk to take a sip and splash— That’s when it happens. Chocolate milk spilled all over her new kindergarten-approved top that she loved so much. She was heartbroken. “I never forgot that day”, she remembers. “It was when I realized that I love clothes.”

Growing up, Karlee shopped at a lot of second hand stores. “I remember getting so excited to go to Kid-To-Kid”. She remembers scouring through racks and racks of clothes until she found something that she liked. She looks back and recalls those first shopping experiences with her mother, “I think it was really annoying for my mom. I really think I drove her nuts. I took way to long to choose something.” She says that she’s always been particular about what she wears."

Her love for the fashion industry never ceased. She says, “It’s just always been something that I’ve loved and it shows in how I dress. People would always ask me where I got my clothes or how I put my outfits together. So, I decided to start a blog. It was super scary for me, but I’m so glad that I did it.”

Today Karlee is married and has a daughter and is now blogging full time. “It’s so crazy”, she says. “I can’t believe that this is what I’m doing for my career. If you would have asked me 5 years ago I wouldn’t have believed you”. She notes that being in the spotlight is totally out of her comfort zone, but that it pushes her to grow and be more creative.

On balancing family life and work she says, “I feel so lucky that I married someone who supports me and wants to help me accomplish my dreams. I couldn’t do this without him.” She also notes that, “It’s more of a life-work integration at this point. I become a workaholic very easily, so I definitely have to set parameters for myself.”

What does the future look like? Karlee hopes to one day (hopefully sooner rather than later) create her own clothing line. “As much as I love what’s out there right now, there’s always been a gap for me. I search for things that I just can’t find. I’ve always had ideas about pieces that I could create myself. It’s just a matter of doing it.”

Karlee hopes to inspire women to chase their dreams and to feel and look great while doing it.
