Whether you dipped a toe in the tiny sunglasses trend and decided it wasn’t for you or avoided Matrix-inspired frames like the plague, we have good news: Big sunglasses are back. In a big way.

And as it turns out, they’re not all that different from the XL frames that were popular in the early aughts (we see you, Rachel Zoe). Back then, they were thoroughly retro-inspired, as if each pair had been plucked from your grandma’s dusty collection rather than the shelves of Nordstrom. This time around, the shapes are similar, just with more angular details and sharper, flashier hardware. But still, there’s a nod to the faded lenses and tortoiseshell acetate that was huge in the ’70s.

Most important, they’re flattering as all hell, and they work with just about any face shape and hairstyle. Here are 16 of our favorite new sunnies to shop now.
