8 Swim Cover-Ups You Can Wear Outside the Pool, Too
We love products that serve more than one purpose. A lipstick you can also use as blush? Sold. A scarf that doubles as a handbag accessory? Here’s our credit card. So when summer rolls around and we’re shopping for swim cover-ups, we try to find pieces that also double as regular clothing. Luckily, these eight fit the bill.
Cropped Linen Pants
Is there anything more summery than a pair of breezy linen trousers? These (in a classic color and with scalloped edges) clearly look great with a bikini top. But button that shirt or throw on a plain white tee and you’ve got an outfit you can totally wear to sip rosé on a rooftop.
A Long Kaftan
So luxe. This gorgeous olive maxi is technically a swim cover-up, but we might be even more inclined to wear it to dinner, accessorized with simple sandals and gold jewelry.
A Midi Tent Dress
A flowy frock is ideal for summer—no matter if you’re heading to the pool or a coffee date. When you’re not sporting a bikini, wear this navy blue beauty atop a lightweight slip (it is a touch see-through) and with metallic sandals.
A Tasseled Tunic
Ooh summery. Slip this semi-sheer guy over a white camisole and complete the look with your favorite white jeans and sandals. You could also pair this with shorts, but be careful of the length—too itty-bitty and it’ll look like you aren’t wearing pants at all.

A Pom-Pom Sarong
Relax: We’re not suggesting you wear a sarong as a skirt. With normal underwear. In public. Instead, think of it as a scarf, and wear it as such. Whether artfully tied around your neck or stashed in your bag to throw over your shoulders if it gets chilly, don’t limit your gauzy sarong by tying it only around your waist.
A Floral Kimono
We love kimonos for summer, since they cover us up without drowning us in fabric. We’d wear a shorter version like this with a white tank and a pair of high-waisted shorts, or white jeans if we were going for a slightly dressier vibe.
