Here’s Exactly How to Shop Like a Fashion Influencer

Babba Canales has done a lot of wildly impressive things (bringing Uber to Sweden as the company's community manager, helping to launch the luggage brand Away and starting her own fashion and wellness agency), but it’s her incredible sense of style that first caught our eye. So we asked the super-stylish Coterie member to share her favorite tips and tricks for maximizing your wardrobe and shopping like a pro. And, girl, did she deliver.

5 Denim Trends We’ll All Be Wearing in 2018

Where are your favorite places to shop for fast fashion or affordable pieces?
For fast fashion, I’m a big fan of & Other Stories and Uniqlo.

What about luxury pieces?
Net-a-Porter is my go-to for inspiration and luxury shopping, as well as What Goes Around Comes Around for vintage pieces. As for luxury brands, I love Gucci, but I’m also a big fan of independent brands like ATP Atelier, Brother Vellies, Manu Atelier, Tibi and GANNI.

What brands are you obsessing over right now?
Right now, Tibi. After attending their show the other day, I’m still dreaming of all the suits and colors from their FW18 collection!

Are there any stores you go to for specific items?
I like Uniqlo for basics, such as cashmere turtlenecks and plain shirts. ATP Atelier is my go-to for stylish and comfy, everyday shoes. Reformation for dresses, Mother for jeans, Gucci for bags and Brother Vellies for statement shoes.

How often do you shop? Do you continuously pick up things here and there or do you like to do a big shopping spree once every few months?
I don’t shop that often to be honest. I really don’t have time to browse around stores or ecommerce sites that much. I shop a lot when I travel, or on weekends, when I’m strolling around the city with friends. I’m an impulse shopper and love to buy things that catch my attention and bring me joy at first sight. With shoes and jeans, I always buy the first pair I like that fit and feel comfy, because it is so hard to find the perfect fit for jeans and fun shoes are rarely comfy. When they are, I’m buying them on the spot!

Do you prefer online shopping or going to stores?
When buying shoes and jeans, I prefer IRL for fit. The rest, I’m cool to buy online.

Do you have any tips on how to maximize successful online shopping?
The sales on Net-a-Porter and Reformation are my favorite. You can get really awesome statement pieces for a fraction of the retail cost!
