The Lightest, Warmest Winter Vest
The vest says global nomad, not bloated lumberjack.

Our first winter in Los Angeles, we scoffed at the local winter uniform of yoga pants, puffy vests and short boots. Fast-forward a few years and we’re part of the pack--albeit in our daily getup of super-flattering exercise togs and comfy New Zealand-made Uggs.

That Michelin Man quilted vest, though? We just can’t.

But lately it’s been freezing in the morning, and since we don’t want to lug around a whole winter coat when it tends to shoot up 25 degrees by noon, we’re now embracing a new, slimmer topper: the Vega Vest ($285) by Aether Apparel.

The secret sauce is PrimaLoft Gold Insulation, which is way thinner and warmer than down, paired with a nice, tall collar that turns you into a cocoon when you snap it up.

And while most clothing in this category makes the wearer look like she's ready to ascend Everest, this vest has simpler aspirations. It looks great both layered over our sweater and leggings as well as casual dresses and denim. Versatility, people.
