When you meet a top surfer who quotes Diana Vreeland, you know you’re in for something special. That’s what we’ve found in Kassia + Surf, the new wet-suit line designed by number-two world-ranked women’s longboard champ Kassia Meador.
Even if you’ve never contemplated hopping on a surfboard or bodyboard, or helming a mini catamaran, the styles from this brand will tempt you. Meador’s just-introduced collection is a medley of tasteful tie-dye, stripes and black.
Since the designer is also a commercial and fine-arts photographer, we’re not surprised that each of the suits (from the psychedelic shorty, $305, to the full suit, $685) is constructed for both functionality and flattering the female form. V-shaped front panels draw the eye upward to the shoulders, softening the Chianti-bottle silhouette of many women’s wet suits.
Truly, these pieces are so distinctive, we’re considering the black zip-top ($270)--with its hint of tie-dye on the forearms and reverse--as our spring replacement for a jean jacket.
