Moschino St. Laurent Style Smackdown
Moschino boa or Saint Laurent bow tie?

Now that the playoffs are but a distant memory, it?s time to move on to a new rivalry. The contest? Shopping.

Both of these boutiques have recently opened. Both are classic Euro brands reinvigorated by Angelenos (Saint Laurent?s Hedi Slimane lives in Beverly Hills, while Moschino designer Jeremy Scott just bought a Lautner home off Mulholland). And they?re both filled with high-priced high fashion. So who should win your dollars?

Most celebrity cred: Katy Perry wore custom Moschino for her Super Bowl half-time show, while Saint Laurent designs played only a supporting role on Lenny Kravitz. (Then again, Slimane?s classic moto jacket can be seen all over town on the A-list set.)

Best tchotchkes: At Moschino, you can buy fun little trinkets, in keeping with the line?s playfulness: teddy bear earbuds ($55) and cartoon scarves ($75).

Best handbags: Saint Laurent offers Slimane?s first handbag design, the Sac de Jour. A deconstructed version of Hermès?s iconic Birkin bag, the small size retails for $2,750; Angelina Jolie is a fan.

Best retail environment: While Moschino has a bright, welcoming gallery-like interior, we?re crushing hard on Saint Laurent?s three floors of sexy mirrors, marble surfaces, brass and chrome.

Best iconic look: We?re endlessly enamored of Le Smoking ($3,590), the satin-lapel women?s tuxedo jacket that reminds us of Yves Saint Laurent?s 1966 version. Runner-up: Moschino?s pop art (and soda pop) sweater dress ($825), ironically also reminiscent of a 1966 Yves Saint Laurent design.

Winner: Tie game! Guess you?ll just have to visit both boutiques.
