This season?s hat has two new features to get giddy about: A wider, rounder brim (a shape more akin to the floppy straw hat) and a whole host of rich, enticing colors. Look for thick yet crushable wool felt styles, and don?t be shy about embellishments--feathers, leather bands and grosgrain ribbons look super-chic.

It’s a blanket you can wear. (Isn’t that the best thing you’ve ever heard?) Soft knit wraps from Echo look like outerwear but feel like pajamas. The fringe is a nod toward that ’70s trend fall is all about, but the neutral palette and color blocking make these wraps decidedly modern. Now, back to it feeling like you’re wearing a blanket...

Menswear with flair: A little tassel action is the icing on the cake for these structured, sophisticated flats. Look for rich textures and details like velvet and scalloped trim, or go all out with patent leather in a kicky metallic. Pair with cropped trousers or cuffed jeans and you’ll be grounded and oh so comfy.
Get the look: J.Crew ($168)
On their own, dainty chains and itty-bitty pendants can vanish into the background. That?s why, this season, we?re all about stacks on stacks? of delicate jewelry. Layered up on your wrist, fingers or neck (or, yes, all of the above), these pretty pieces make more of an impact.
Tights bedecked in playful prints, chevrons, plaids and florals are the easiest way to zhuzh up your plain sheaths and pencil skirts. Worried about wandering into kindergartner territory? Opt for neutrals and jewel tones, and keep the rest of your outfit in the same color family (complement rather than contrast).
Get the look: Hue ($20)
It’s time to retire that flimsy straw carryall you’ve been hauling back and forth to the beach all summer (it’s full of sand anyway). Opt instead for something more structured, like this Kate Spade tote. The silhouette exudes classic confidence (hello, top handles and winged sides), but the bag is made cool with textured tonal panels in suede, snakeskin and pebbled leather.
Get the look: Kate Spade New York ($428)
You don’t have to feel bad about your neck… but if you do, take it from us, a bright silk scarf is the easiest, chicest way to make that area sing (or hide it in the least offensive way). Knot it at the center of your throat and let the ends hang loose. You Parisian vixen, you.
Get the look: Henri Bendel ($50)
Belts are back, baby! (Haven’t you heard?) Get tied up in a refined sleek leather version that falls into the same color palette as your high-rise pants, skirts and jeans (more practical, less statement-making). Tuck in your blouse and slide a belt into its loops to highlight your waist. Just as the fashion gods intended.
Get the look: Topshop ($40)
While we?re loving the resurgence of ?70s everything, retro-inspired sunnies with round shapes feel especially cool right now. Tortoiseshell frames play it safe (and pair perfectly with the rich browns and soft suede hues of the moment), but feel free to go nuts with clear or colorful acetone versions if you?re feeling whimsical.
Get the look: Ray-Ban ($165)
Casually cool and oh so warm, these hiker-approved socks are hitting the city streets (bare legs and all). Pull them up to peek out of your riding boots or scrunch them down around your ankles if you’re sporting booties. Salt-and-pepper knit wool goes with nearly everything. (Just don’t go for rainbow colors unless you want to look like your 8-year-old niece.)
Get the look: L.L.Bean ($20)
Fall is here, and you know that means we’re already out and about, picking apples, noshing on cider doughnuts and hunting down the prettiest foliage.
Wait, who are we kidding? We’re shopping. Next weekend, though, apples and all that stuff.
But rather than replace our entire wardrobe (as tempting as that sounds), we’re picking up a few key accessories to help make the transition into the season ahead.
Behold the ten inspiring little add-ons that will resuscitate your wardrobe. Someone please save us a doughnut.
