Boot camp, yoga, The Bar Method--they?re all so serious. Wouldn?t it be nice to take a class where you actually laughed once in a while?
Well, Fitmob is the community-oriented fitness group with a wicked sense of humor. With class names like Weapons of Ass Reduction, Drop It Like a Squat and Guns Like Gaga, you know you?re in for a good time. Fitmob?s goal is to bring you high-quality indoor and outdoor workouts without having to commit to an expensive gym membership.
Here?s how you sign up: After downloading the Fitmob app, you can choose from about 50 different classes in SoMa, the Mission, the Marina and the Presidio, then book and pay from your phone. Classes are $15 each, but you?re rewarded the more you go--the workouts cost as little as $5 a pop if you show up three or more times a week.
We started with the SOfierce class at Temple nightclub. Instructor Lillian So brought a DJ friend to spin music (ahem, Missy Elliott's "Work It") while she led us through a choreographed routine. It felt more like a dance party than the actual squat and burpee reps we were grunting through.
Oh, and did we mention that Fitmob has ?ops ninjas? (instead of lockers) who stand guard over your stuff while you sweat it out in class? So Mission: Impossible, you can?t help but smile.
