7:30 p.m. Hop over to Manna, where Elaine Maute shows off her marine-inspired photography in Waterworks and Laura Domrose explores Turkey’s many textures in Istanbul (both through March 15). (473 25th St.)
9 p.m. What does Oakland do with the 100-square-foot wall of an Uptown office complex during the Murmur? They use it as a movie screen, of course. This week Pixar employees are screening some animated shorts. (The reel loops from 7 to 11 p.m.; West Grand Avenue between Broadway and Valley)
9:30 p.m. You’re full of art, but hungry for food. Walk-ins can sit at one of a few communal tables or in the next-door bodega at this killer tapas restaurant. No need to wait for the menu--order the rabbit and merguez sausage paella. (468 19th St.)
11 p.m. Order a Garden Gimlet (gin, basil, cucumber and lime) from the craft cocktail menu and challenge your friends to a game of indoor bocce ball. Cap off the day with the habanero- and cilantro-infused popcorn. (1741 Telegraph Ave.)
Friday nights are tough. You're exhausted from the grind but too young at heart to go retire to the TV (plus, Scandal was last night).
To the rescue: Oakland Art Murmur, held on the first Friday of every month (next up is March 7).
The hip art crawl spans about eight blocks in the Uptown area of Oakland and features street vendors, food trucks, live music, an outdoor movie projection and open galleries. It's one big ol' adult block party. Here's a cheat sheet to the Murmur, complete with an hour-by-hour guide of what not to miss.
Bonus: Download the app that feeds Oakland Art Murmur exhibit details into a Google Field Trip.
