A porch swing crafted from the tailgate of an antique Chevy. A bar cart made with refurbished barn wood. A table constructed from a retired pinball machine. These are just a few of the upcycled gems you can find at Farmyard Darlings, a new shop in Lafayette.
Last year, friends and cowgirls at heart Carole Sinclair and Kim Berry left their corporate jobs to devote themselves to repurposing vintage wares. They search salvage yards and work with collectors around Northern California to find what could be mistakenly considered junk (e.g., rundown ladders and tractor wheels) and transform the items into charming shabby-chic decor.
Most impressive is the Darlings? custom work: They?ll source and build a gorgeous farm table per your dimension requests ($1,500 to $3,800) or install barn doors with vintage tracks in your house (similar price range).
Not sure where rustic fixtures could fit into your floor plan? Schedule a Get ?Er Done appointment, and Sinclair and Berry will pack their pickup truck full of goods and show you what will look great in your space ($300 to $375 for a three- to four-hour visit).
