Kaye’s pillows, like this pink lattice floral one ($250), are filled with organic kapok, a silk cotton, so they’re super soft.
We didn?t need Martha Stewart to tell us that Shannon Kaye?s Plein Heir home collection is gorgeous--just look at it.
The San Mateo-based designer and artist (who is nominated for a Stewart-backed American Made award) has been beautifying Bay Area homes for more than a decade through her color-consulting business. Kaye is also the host of the DIY Network?s Fresh Coat show, and her work reflects her passion for chromatic palettes and NorCal landscapes.
It was while reading The Private Lives of Impressionists that she got the idea for Plein Heir furniture--refurbished chairs, tables and pillows covered with her stunning paintings. Inspired by artists like Cézanne and Diebenkorn's fondness for working en plein air, she took to her open carport and got to work capturing the world around her.
Those compositions--of mountain ranges, rolling hills and vibrant flowers--are what bedeck the pieces, which range from vintage nightstands ($550) to antique secretary desks ($1,400). Here, a few of our favorite pieces. Each item is one of a kind, so snap one up before we do.
