Once upon a time (read: before Amazon), you?d buy your bread at a bakery and books at an actual bookstore. Now there?s a shop in SF called Pickwick & Weller that carries just T-shirts--and it?s worth the trip.
Because these are not just any tees--they are buttery soft, well-tailored ones that won?t cost as much as the leather skirt you plan on tucking them into. Pickwick & Weller has been selling online for about a year, but now you can see their quality tees in the flesh at their recently opened store right here in SoMa.
What?s all the fuss about? When you have more than 15 styles in different fits in over 25 colors, you can accomplish only so much via pointing and clicking. You need to try on the boxy-but-not-too-blousy Avery Boyfriend style ($32) and the luxe silk-sleeved Gale ($78) to see what looks best on your body.
We were greeted by an amiable staffer who walked us through the various cuts and hues. We tried on the basic fits for size and were surprised by how flattering a high-low hem can be. Turns out the Hayward ($47), with its rolled sleeves and side vents, is our T-shirt soul mate.
Place your order at the store (you get 20 percent off for buying in person), and your shirt is shipped to you for free.
