Get Carried Away
A tote that goes from the streets to the beach
Right around this time of year, we always start having fantasies about relocating to SoCal.
But because we?re locked into a two-year lease (and hey, who wants that L.A. traffic?), we?re counting on Hipp & Kirk?s new collection of totes to sartorially transport us.
Designed by former Angeleno Lauren Milroy (who?s now one of our favorite local bloggers), the bags capture that carefree beachy spirit--but with a utilitarian NorCal sensibility.
Since moving to the Bay Area more than five years ago, Milroy earned a degree in product design from Stanford and helped create outdoor gear for SF-based Alite. Hipp & Kirk is her first solo endeavor--at the moment she?s operating out of her studio in the Mission, where she sews the prototypes herself.
The line is small but packs a stylish punch: All three bags are made from super-durable canvas and are splashed with a cerulean, sunflower or black block of fabric. We can?t wait to get our paws on the bucket tote ($104)--perfect for stashing layers when you?re running around town or SPF and a cover-up when you?re heading to a sunnier zip code.
