A new shuttle calms work commutes
We?ve all had that ?Muni moment? during a morning commute: You?re pressed uncomfortably close to a complete stranger, an unpleasant smell wafts from the floor just as your Philz coffee spills and?did that man just spit on the bus?!
That?s not the right way to start your day. Leap Transit wants to do something about it.
The new shuttle service for commuters is a major upgrade: Modeled after the corporate buses run by Google and Apple, each bright blue vehicle has 36 reclining leather seats, power docks and wi-fi. Free water and granola are also on board.
So how do you get a seat? Download the app on your iPhone, then enter your name, email, credit card info, and the time slot you want--the shuttle runs on the hour from 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Simply show up at one of the stops--no need to reserve ahead of time, as you?re guaranteed a seat--and hop on. The driver will check you in, and your card is charged $6 for the trouble.
Right now, Leap Transit is running one route that?s similar to Muni?s 30X, from the Marina to downtown. But they?re soliciting suggestions for other routes, so request away.
