Gravel & Gold Goods
The First Falls Gemini dress and "Noiz" tote

When we heard that Gravel & Gold was officially launching its own clothing line, we immediately cleared out a space in our closet.

The freethinking Mission boutique has been a reliable source of largely Cali-made fashion and home goods for the past few years, from Susan Hoff?s totes to Juniper Ridge sprays. It?s clear from even a quick visit how carefully owners Cassie McGettigan, Lisa Foti-Straus and Nile Nash select the makers whose wares they carry.

Each a creative type in their own right (Foti-Straus is a documentary filmmaker), the ladies? master plan was always to create a signature Gravel & Gold collection. And good news: It totally lives up to expectations.

The tops and dresses (ranging from $80 to $170) are hand-printed in the city with trippy original patterns on textured crinkle cotton and silk. And they?re all sewn by tailor-in-residence Holly Samuelsen. We?re eyeing the First Falls Gemini frock ($170) in muted blue to wear on our next sunny excursion. Canvas totes like this one, designed by Bay Area artist Rachel Kaye, have been emblazoned with the same poppy patterns as the clothing.

The G&G gals are selling their goods at the shop, as well as at General Store and Mollusk.
