We?re all for finding faster, friendlier ways to get in, around and out of the city.

Taylor Lewis is coming to our vehicular rescue--in a 42-foot speedboat.

The Marin-born former yacht captain spent ten years sailing around North and South America. When he returned to his home base in 2011, he was dismayed by the lack of water-transport options and resolved to take matters into his own hands. And so he launched Tideline Water Taxi.

The 24-7 on-demand water-taxi service is the only one of its kind in the Bay Area. Call or email Lewis within an hour of when you need a ride and he?ll personally pick you up and drop you off at one of Tideline?s nine ports.

Fares vary depending on where you?re headed and cover up to two passengers (additional passengers can come along for the ride for $10 per person; the boat accommodates up to 12). Though the rates may be steeper than what you?d pay for a taxi or town car (Tideline charges $70 for two people to get from Hyde Street Pier to Sausalito), we think the convenience, ridiculous bay views and Lewis?s charming company are worth every penny.
