We?ll Instagram the heck out of ourselves (hey, some of those filters are pretty flattering). But the thought of getting a professional head shot still makes us cringe.
That is, until we met Sarah Deragon.
The photographer who founded Portraits to the People less than a year ago specializes in what she calls not-so-corporate head shots. Deragon also cringes at the stiltedness of traditional pro photos and resolved to use her shutterbug skills to make them something you won?t dread.
Since last summer, Deragon has snapped everyone from graphic designers to therapists. She has captured them everywhere from Baker Beach to her brand-new studio in the Outer Richmond, where she provides several background options, including a ready-to-draw-on chalkboard--perfect for creative types.
In serious need of a modern profile pic, we enlisted Deragon for a studio shoot. Her sweet, relaxed demeanor immediately put us at ease (the ?90s jams playing in the background didn?t hurt, either). She suggested ways to avoid the undesirable double chin and even managed to gingerly rearrange our unruly mane.
By the end, the photo shoot wound up feeling like a party (literally--we were throwing confetti). And that?s our honest opinion, no filter.
Deragon?s packages range from $325 to $850 for corporate and dating head shots. Couple, maternity and family sessions are also available.
