Louesa Roebuck is not your typical florist. In fact, she doesn?t even like to call herself one.

She forages for flowers such as magnolias, calla lilies and lilacs near her cottage in Stinson or picks them from her friends? gardens in the East Bay. Spurning the traditional (and overused) glass vases, Roebuck favors ceramic vessels and pharmaceutical receptacles.

Roebuck?s arrangements have a distinct West Coast sensibility. Unlike the bloom-packed designs popular in other regions, her aesthetic is minimal and laid-back, leaving plenty of negative space to let the seasonal flowers she favors breathe.

On a recent visit to her newish store in Hayes Valley, we were struck by the desire to Instagram pretty much everything. Beyond the cherry blossoms that seemed to grow straight out of Richard Carter pottery, we coveted the light Japanese linens and antique thread spools she carries. And, of course, the chandelier from H.D. Buttercup?s In Bed, which she shares the space with.

Roebuck takes individual requests for arrangements (starting at $60), so line her up for Mother?s Day before we do.
