The interior designer has a way of making every space--even offices--fresh and elegant. Kwong started her own firm in San Francisco in 2011 after working with Ralph Lauren and Bill Sofield in New York.
Here, she offers four tips for making your workspace a place you want to be:
Keep it tidy. Minimizing clutter is essential to staying focused. Kwong swears by trays for keeping her desk organized, like these colorful acrylic ones by Alexandra Von Furstenberg.
Invest in your desk. The focal point of your office, the desk should be a sturdy piece of first-rate furniture that you like to look at (especially if you?re working from home), like this vellum desk from Mecox or Design Within Reach's Nelson swag-leg desk.
Let there be (soft) light. Turn off glaring overheads and put a functional yet sculptural lamp on your desk. Be sure to use a soft, incandescent bulb.
Go green. Flowers and plants actually make you more productive (plus, they?re pretty). Kwong suggests putting your favorite blooms in a mint julep cup or splurging on a slender glass vase like this one by Vanessa Mitrani to display a single bud.
