A certain snoopiness accompanies our fascination with--and often envy of--the well-heeled. How much did she pay for that clutch? Could I ever fit into that dress?!
Vaunte satisfies our inquiring minds and more.
The site is reinventing luxury consignment shopping online, corralling an exclusive group of style setters to sell their gently (and sometimes rarely) worn designer clothes and accessories. It launched in November, featuring New York City tastemakers, and is about to debut items from a select group of fashionable San Franciscans.
Here’s the scoop: The members-only site (PureWow readers have been granted access to browse the goods) lets you peek inside the closets of these women and read personal tidbits about the pieces, such as where they were worn. Items range from a Chloé dress modeled in a Vogue magazine shoot to a Valentino for Gap jacket. The cofounders of Vaunte are Gilt Groupe veterans, so you can be sure the selection is carefully edited.
We got a sneak peek at the secondhand duds SF residents will be selling: PR maven Allison Speer is offering up her Gucci bags and Oscar de la Renta dresses, and Domino magazine alum Lauren Goodman is bestowing a Marni dress and a Marc Jacobs jacket, among other wares.
We just hope we’re the same size.
