Forget Louboutins and Manolos: The must-have shoes of the moment--especially if you live in San Francisco--are from Freda Salvador.
They’re the design love child of a clean, minimal silhouette and exotic, edgy materials like pony hair and lizard skin, and they blend function seamlessly with high fashion. They’re the kind of shoes that make an outfit.
The insanely talented women behind the brand, Cristina Palomo-Nelson and Megan Papay, just launched their line last year and were recently nominated for a Rising Star Award by Fashion Group International. The two met while working for footwear designer Anyi Lu and joined forces to create what Papay calls “kick-ass everyday shoes,” perfect for Bay Area women who crave well-made, comfortable footwear that has personality to spare.
Their spring collection, available on February 1, features sandals as well as updated versions of the boots and loafers that were so well received in their fall line. In it they juxtapose organic prints with techno iridescent hues and mix industrial materials like rubber with natural leather. (Prices range from $295 to $550.)
The designers are opening a store in Cow Hollow at the end of February. For now you can buy the shoes through Shopbop and La Boutique. Prepare your feet to rejoice.
