A new app tackles your shopping requests
We love to shop at local boutiques as much as you do. But when we desperately need a certain item--gold ballet flats in a size 7½ for less than $100, for instance--it can prove near impossible to find it by pounding the pavement.
A new app called Lasso aims to make wrangling must-have clothes and accessories at shops in your area much easier. The members-only service (download the free app to request an account) just launched in December and is available only in San Francisco.
Here?s how it works: You send your request in 140 characters or less, noting your budget and location. One of the Lasso stylists will respond with suggestions for where to find that item at nearby shops, including photos with brand and price. Your request is also routed to independent local stores so employees can message you recommendations as well. There?s no pressure to buy.
Our request for gold flats was met with swift, accommodating responses. Over the course of 24 hours and some friendly exchanges about the style we were seeking, the perfect pair was located at a shop in the Mission.
