Carrie Caillouette knows what makes a great gift.
She?s the owner of Half Hitch Goods, a new e-boutique for which she curates a thoughtful assembly of heirloom-quality items, from Yucca Valley vintage pottery to handmade leather belts. Inspired by her self-professed passion for collecting and gift-giving, Caillouette left her job as a merchant for Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma to start the site, on a mission to put more meaning into presents.
Raised in Southern California, Caillouette has lived in San Francisco for the past five years and collaborates with a number of talented, under-the-radar Bay Area designers for the site: Erika Honig makes traditional Scandinavian bracelets (starting at $76) using traditional pewter thread and salvaged reindeer antlers. Jess Brown crafts bespoke rag dolls ($180) adorned with antique trims and textiles.
Caillouette?s husband, Britton, who owns the local production company High/Low Film, takes all of the transporting photos featured on the site. Together, they?ve created an online shopping experience that actually feels fulfilling--not an easy feat.
