We love antique finds at the Alameda Flea Market and ornate furnishings as much as the next person. But sometimes you want--you need--some simple, well-made housewares that will elevate your design scheme without competing with it.
Thankfully, Japanese retailer Muji has arrived. A purveyor of streamlined, functional home goods, apparel and accessories, Muji prides itself on selling products that can adapt to your personal style. Peddling quality items at reasonable prices, the company is also committed to conserving resources, as reflected in its minimalist packaging (something we always respect in SF).
Taking up residence in SoMa, this is Muji?s first store on the West Coast and its largest in the United States. More than 1,700 household items will be sold, including dishware, kitchen tools, bedding, gadgets, organizers and the company?s ?real furniture? collection, which features timeless pieces crafted from solid wood. More than 300 types of clothes, other accoutrements and gifts will also be available.
In keeping with the conservationist theme, the first 1,000 customers will receive a special tote bag adorned with the Muji store location on a map of the city.
Doors open at 11 a.m. We?ll see you there.
