5 SFO airport hacks for your next trip
Thanksgiving and the holidays are around the corner, and if you?re like us, you?re already dreading the airport mess ahead. So we put together some tips for sailing through SFO pain-free. As for what unfolds when you get all the family together in one room, well, we can?t help you there.
Rent someone?s car. Uber and Lyft have gotten the ax for pickups at SFO, but they can still do airport drop-offs. Just ask the driver to hide that pink mustache. Once you?ve landed at your destination, try RelayRides or FlightCar, services that let you rent a car that someone on their way out of town has parked at the airport.
Score free Wi-Fi. If you end up with a layover, at least you can stay connected with your office, er, Instagram feed. Just choose the network SFO FREE WIFI and compute to your heart?s content.
Breeze through security. If you?re a frequent flier, there?s no reason not to enroll in TSA PreCheck (takes two to three weeks) or Clear (takes five to seven days). Make an appointment at an enrollment center, fill out some forms, pay a fee ($85 for TSA PreCheck; $179 annually for Clear) and never wait in a security line again.
Do a few sun salutations. Once you zip through security in Terminal 2, get centered in the free yoga room. The quiet, mirrored space is equipped with mats and blocks.
Nosh on street food. Off the Grid food trucks like Curry Up Now and Kung Fu Tacos show up at Terminal 1 at lunchtime (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) on Thursdays. Book flights accordingly.
