Kuna's home-security system
Looks like a light. Is secretly a home alarm system.

According to the FBI, a burglary occurs every 15 seconds. And if you’ve ever been the victim of theft, you know how violating it feels.

Now there’s Kuna, a break-in prevention system that’s designed to deter potential intruders before they enter your house (most security systems activate only after the fact).

What is it? Kuna (starting at $149) is a Wi-Fi camera and intercom built into an outdoor light fixture that connects to your phone via a free iPhone or Android app. The fixture comes in three styles--traditional, craftsman and contemporary--and simply replaces your old light using existing wiring (they promise an easy DIY installation).

How does it work? Kuna’s smart technology detects someone’s presence outside your house and sends an alert to your phone. You can see who it is through the camera’s live feed. Scare off a potential burglar by talking to him, setting off an alarm before he enters or calling the police.

At first, Kuna will alert you every time someone comes to the door (mailman, friendly neighbor), but over time it learns who’s wrong and who’s right. Kuna also avoids false alarms by ignoring the motions of animals and trees. The best part: You can monitor your place whether you’re home, at the office or on vacation.

Home security of the future!
