We?ll be the first to admit that the words eco-friendly and style don?t typically go hand in hand. But hold the eye roll for a second. We found a green collection that?s actually worth your time.
Local outfitter Amour Vert?s line of eco-fashion is Paris-chic meets Cali-cool. The French-German husband-and-wife duo behind the brand chooses sustainable fabrics--think silk, linen, organic cotton and Tencel (a natural fiber made from the wood pulp of eucalyptus trees). Then they apply gorgeous, hand-drawn prints using low-impact dyes.
Plus, everything in the new Hayes Valley boutique is made within a 20-mile radius.
We?re crushing on the relaxed ikat pants ($177), the coral button-down maxi dress ($216)--it would look perfect with a skinny belt--and the adorable green palm-printed jumpsuit ($209), which is screaming for a blazer and fedora.
But we?d be remiss if we didn?t mention the brand?s incredibly soft T-shirts that give back to the environment. For each piece sold, Amour Vert plants a tree (in the San Bernardino National Forest, for example). To date, they?ve added more than 18,460 trees back to forests across the U.S.
Now that?s green we can get down with.
