Picnic with Off the Grid
There’s nothing better than a lazy Sunday lounging in the park. You know, toes in the grass, gazing at the Golden Gate Bridge and zero judgment about your third glass of rosé.
And with the city’s hot weather lately, there couldn’t be a better time to hit Off the Grid’s Picnic at the Presidio.
The weekly food-and-booze event on the lawn draws nearly 30 trucks and stalls. We recommend getting to the park early and heading straight for the Del Popolo pizza truck to avoid long lines. Share the asparagus pizza with fresh mozzarella, pecorino and green garlic pesto. Save room for a scoop of Three Twins lemon-cookie ice cream for dessert.
Feeling parched? Listen for the roaming beverage cart’s bell, and then wave the waitress over for a little boozy blanket service. The Pimm’s Cup (Pimm’s No. 1, ginger ale, lemon and cucumber) is crisp and refreshing. Or brave the line at the Bubble Bar for a mini bottle of Domaine Chandon’s sparkling rosé.
Horseshoes and bocce ball will keep the kids (and dog) entertained while you kick back and order another adult beverage. Sunday never looked so good.
Sundays through October 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Presidio Main Post Lawn, Lincoln Blvd. and Anza St.; offthegridsf.com
