You loved pottery class in high school, but let?s be honest: You never made it past centering your vase-to-be on the wheel.

This weekend, you can live vicariously through the skilled artisans at Heath Ceramics? annual open studios event. Both the Sausalito and San Francisco Mission locations will open their factory doors so you can see firsthand how the magic happens.

Sign up for a factory focus tour in Sausalito, where you?ll learn about the design process behind Heath Ceramics/House Industries clocks, which launched in April as part of their permanent collection. (House Industries uses 19th-century French stencils for these designs!)

In San Francisco, go for the bud vase workshop, where you?ll shape and glaze Heath?s most classic design. You know, just in case you want to try your hand at this pottery thing one more time.

While you?re there, check out Heath?s brand-new summer collection (available only until October 1). Its green, lavender and gray palette was inspired by Iceland?s landscape after a team member took a trip to the country last year.

Bonus: You?ll get a 15 percent discount on all in-store purchases during the open studios weekend. Start making room in your cabinets for your shiny new dishware.
