Uber gets into the messenger game
Whether you?re an Uber devotee or an old-school cab hailer, there?s some big news you need to know: The black-car app is now officially in the NYC messengering biz. And it?s never been easier to deliver that thank-you note.
UberRUSH functions exactly the same way as hailing an Uber car. Use the sliding menu at the bottom of the map to see the closest messengers to your location. Set a pickup point, confirm the request and have your package ready to go (simply label the envelope or bag--you never even have to type an address).
We sent some birthday goodies to a friend (from our office in the Flatiron District to her office in Midtown). The courier (dressed in nice slacks, no less) arrived in about ten minutes and the assortment of lip gloss and gummy bears was in our friend?s hands within the half hour--all shockingly easy and for just $20.
Sure, the city is already littered with messenger services, but none have the slick ordering system that already makes Uber a game-changer. Just like with the cars, you can follow your courier?s path on the GPS-enabled map and are alerted when the package arrives safely.
Let the gifting begin.
