I’ve Got a Hunch
The Geek Massage targets aching muscles
Hey there, slouchy. Yes, you--the one hunched over your laptop with your ears in your shoulders and your back forming some sort of Quasimodo silhouette.
Did you know that sitting at your computer isn’t exactly the best thing you’ve ever done for your back?
Here to help is Haven Spa’s new Geek Massage.
Designed to relieve upper-body stress as well as other slumping-related aches and pains, the Geek Massage is all about opening up the chest and raising the shoulders--in other words, undoing the damage of manning a desk all day.
At our recent test-drive (yeah, we know--our job is rough), we were pleasantly surprised to see how the massage differed from your typical deep-tissue rubdown. Our therapist focused primarily on the upper back, kneading hard at those icky neck and shoulder knots while running the length of our spine with aromatherapy-infused massage balls. (We got to bring the balls home afterward.) She also worked rather forcefully on our forearms, which were apparently tense after some 15 years of frantic typing.
When the 60 minutes were up, we felt taller, leaner and decidedly less achy. No less geeky, though. We still pretty much look like this.
